HURM 36900   - HRM Precertification Seminar  (3)  
This course covers yearly updated national curriculum to orient students to detailed delivery of HRM services. Content covers six major areas of HRM practices. Students have option of taking national test for certification. Students share class with working professionals for networking and self-enrichment Typically offered in online format.
Prerequisite: PSYC 36500 and BSAD 36000 and BSAD 25000  
HURM 37000   - Employment Law  (3)  
This course introduces all legal aspects of employment law and the impact of these laws in the marketplace. The course also covers an overview of the legal environment of current federal and state laws relating to with employer- employee contracts, anti-discrimination laws, employee testing and privacy, retirement and workers compensation, and other statuary legal rights.
Prerequisite: BSAD 36000 and BSAD 25000  
HURM 38000   - Organization Theory and Design  (3)  
This course introduces the concepts and theories of business organizations and management. The course covers topics related to organization theory, structure, and organization design with the perspective of designing more effective and competitive organizations. Other topics include the study of organizational characteristics such as type, size, structure, degree of centralization, level of technology; and organizational processes such as organizational planning, leadership styles, decision making, and coordination and controlling systems.
Prerequisite: BSAD 36000  
HURM 41500   - Compensation and Benefits  (3)  
This course introduces the compensation and benefits principles to achieve organizational objectives. The course will cover how organizations use compensation systems to attract, recruit, develop, motivate and retain employees. The course also covers how to do an analysis of the company's current compensation system, and a survey of the new and more recent developments in compensation decisions.
Prerequisite: BSAD 36000  
HURM 49400   - Internship in Human Resource Management   (3)  
Students participate in supervised, experiential training in private sector, governmental or non-profit organizations for a minimum of 150 hours onsite. A program evaluation project and report are required. Placement must be arranged and approved by the HRM director prior to registration for the course. This course satisfies the capstone requirement for HRM and Psychology. This course also satisfies the advanced writing requirement for the HRM major.
